Edict or farmān with the seal of Fatḥ ʿAlī Shāh (dated 1217/1802) and invocation, addressesed to Gore Ouseley, but unusually does not refer to him as the English ambassador or īlchī, mentions the receipt of his petition through Ḥakīm Kumayl and presentation through the interventions of senior courtiers; comments on the adequacy of preparations for travel; ends with praise and leave to make further inquiries
