Title: Dīvān-i JāmīTitle: ديوان جامیA selection of lyric poems from the Dīvān of ‘Abd al-Raḥmān Jāmī (d. 898/1492). The poems, which are preceded by the introduction found in some copies of Jāmī’s Dīvān, are not arranged entirely in alphabetical order. They begin with some verses by Jāmī about himself; also included is a long tarjī‘-band in praise of the Prophet.
The primary importance of this volume resides in its being one of the few known manuscripts copied in nasta‘līq script by Shaykh Ḥamd Allāh Amāsī, also known as Ibn al-Shaykh (840-926/1436-1520), widely regarded as the greatest Ottoman calligrapher.
Other contents: f. 1r, owners’ brief notes, dated 1212/1797-8 and 1215/1800-1; library label in Ottoman Turkish reading: Maktab-i Sulṭānī Muḥammad Jalāl al-Dīn, nūmirū 241.
Colophon (f. 56v) dated Sha‘bān 904/March-April 1499.
