Badaʼiʻ al-akhbar
Contents
1 copy of Badā’i‘ al-akhbār by ʻImād al-Dīn ibn Khusraw al-Ḥusaynī al-Haravī
Title: Badā’i‘ al-akhbārTitle: بدائع الاخبارA didactic mas̲navī poem, with a preface in prose. In the preface (f. 1v-2r) the author gives his name as ʿImād al-Dīn ibn Khusraw al-Ḥusaynī al-Haravī and states that the full title of the work, Badā’i‘ al-akhbār-i ‘Imād, is a chronogram for the year in which it was begun. Accordingly, the date would appear to be 1037/1627-8.
‘Imād al-Dīn’s work begins with an exordium and munājāt, and contains a number of brief tales concerning the lovesick, ascetics, saints, women, and suchlike. Down to f. 17r each episode has a descriptive heading. The total length of the poem is reckoned by the author as 1634 bayts.
Other contents: f. 55r-56r, a qaṣīda in 30 bayts, in praise of one Mas‘ūd Khān; 1r, owner's inscription giving the title of the text and the price paid for the manuscript.
