Summary of Contents: Scroll of 21 transcripts and original petitions addressed to an unnamed ruler (titled Sulṭān ʿĀlam), as well as officials and dignitaries of Avadh (Oudh/Oude), during the reign of Amjad ʿAlī Shāh; most petitioners are identified by signatures and adjacent dated seals; dates extend from 1223/1808 to 4 Shavvāl 1259/28 October 1843; contains appeals for employment and government posts, reconsideration on dismissals from post, adjudication and mediation in disputes, housing and poverty relief, social interactions of prominent women and ministers, cases of mortgages, debt, fraud, theft, and misappropriation, as well as reports on private activities, sieges, public cruelty, and the staffing and pay of military contingents; IOL stamp 13 May 1909; creased with some damage; variations in dimensions of documents; various design schemes, with minor illumination; set of 3 scrolls (IO Islamic 3783, 3784, 3785, possibly corresponding to lot numbers 9, 10, 11) acquired in the 'Hodgson' auction sale ([19]09-05-13)

Per diem of 5 rupees set by Shujāʿ al-Dawlah from the privy purse for appellant’s grandfather, Sayyid Zāhid ʿAlī Shāh

Jannat Ārāmgāh continued to pay a per diem of 2 rupees, continuing until the period of Khuld Manzil

Firdaws Manzil looked at the original deeds and charters and issued a royal decree or farmān after appellant registered in the court or kachihrī of the Doab under Munavvar al-Dawlah. Payment ceased in this period and was not released

In present reign, issue of royal decree to the munshī Ratan Singh had no effect

Appeal for speedy relief through the issue of a royal ḥukm'nāmah
