Summary of Contents: Untitled Persian translation and epitome of an Arabic theological treatise on the thousand and one ‘beautiful names’ of Allāh, with numerological details, by an unnamed translator.Language(s): Persian and ArabicUntitled Persian translation and epitome of an Arabic theological treatise on the thousand and one ‘beautiful names’ of Allāh, with numerological details, by an unnamed translator.
The original Arabic treatise was commissioned for the benefit of creation, following the conquest of Nishapur, by Sulṭān Saʿīd ibn Sulṭān Maḥmūd Ghāzī, and compiled over the course of a year in consultation with several eminent scholars, Abū al-Qāsim al-Qushayrī, Qāz̤ī Muḥammad Nāṣiḥī, Qāz̤ī Ṣāʿid, Abū Naṣr Ṣābūnī, Khvājah Suhayl, Abū Manṣūr Hiravī, Abī Sulaymān Khiṭāʾī, Abū al-Faz̤l Karkhī, Abū ʿAbd Allāh Shīrāzī, Abū Isḥāq Jamshīdī and others. The work was eventually presented to the ‘Abbasid Caliph, Abū al-ʿAbbās Qādir Billāh.
The colophon date placed at the end of the preface (f. 2r), stating the year 911/1505-6, has probably been copied verbatim from the older source manuscript; datable to the late eighteenth century.
Nastaʿlīq tending to shikastah āmīz.
Folios bound; creased, stained, and cropped.
