Language(s): Persian and ArabicTitle: Mazraʿ al-ḥasanātTitle: مزرع الحسناتSufi treatise translating into Persian and expanded with the commentary of Sayyid Muḥammad Fāz̤il ibn Muḥammad ʿĀrif Safīdunī Dihlavī Madanī on the famous Arabic work on traditions associated with the mission and praise of the Prophet Muḥammad, the Dalāʾil al-khayrāt va shavāriq al-anvār fī z̲ikr al-ṣalāt ʿalá al-Nabī al-Mukhtār by Saʿīd Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Sulaymān al-Jazūlī al-Simlānī al-Shāz̲ilī (d. 870/1465), the great ‘mujaddid’ or renovator of Islam in north Africa and adherent of the Ṣanhājīyah Sufi Order.
The work was written at the request of his friends and religious associates.
According to a postscript following a concluding mas̲navī (f. 244v), this copy was checked from beginning to end against a manuscript, presumably the author’s copy, in the city of Madīnah, and written at the request of Mīr ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Tāsh Muḥammad Qunduzī, and collated by Mīrzā Khvājah.
Not dated at end. Datable to the early eighteenth century.
Neat scribal nastaʿlīq with Arabic passages and quotations overlined.
Partially foliated.
Lacking original covers.
Damaged and detached tooled brown leather covers (injured by wormholes).
Additional internal paper dust wrapper (BEIC legal publication, Calcutta 1851, printed by the Bengal Military Orphan Press by F. Carbery); watermarked (Smith & Son, 1850); labels, stained.
Folios unbound; water stains, wormholes, later repairs.
Condition fragile.
