Language(s): Persian and ArabicUntitled treatise commenting on ethical conduct based on a collection of ḥadīs̲ or traditions of the Prophet Muḥammad and his Companions, by Shihāb [al-Dīn ibn] Shams [al-Dīn] ibn ʿUmar al-Zavālī Dawlatābādī, a prolific author who also commentated on the Qurʾān, and translated several works on Islamic law and history, a contemporary of Sulṭān Ibrāhīm Sharqī (d. 844/1440) who awarded the scholar the title Malik al-ʿUlamāʾ.
The work is prefixed by a short biographical notice added by a later hand Dated colophon (f. 110v): completed by Muḥammad Jamāl Qādirī, 27 Rajab in RY 22 of Emperor Shāh ʿĀlam, 1194/29 July 1780.
Bold and distinct nastaʿlīq.
Folios detached; cropped, some wormholes.
Fragile: the manuscript suffers from a large number of folios stuck together and the transfer of ink impressions to folios opposite.
