Language(s): Persian and ArabicUntitled extensive commentary by Murshid al-Dīn ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAlī al-Shīftagī al-Shīrāzī on the famous Persian mas̲navī on Arabic vocabulary, the Niṣāb al-ṣibyān of Abū Naṣr Muḥammad Badr al-Dīn Farāhī.
The manuscript has another feature added by a later owner, who inserted Arabic quotations on the top of every folio’s verso indicating the volume was used for istikhārat or bibliomancy.
Dated colophon (f. 95v): completed Friday… 1001/1592-3.
Neat nastaʿlīq inclining toward scribal shikastah āmīz by the end. Awkward naskh hand added by later owner.
Stamped foliation.
Damaged reddish brown leather binding, detached.
Folios partially bound; cropped, stains, minor wormhole damage, later repairs; large sections torn at the end.
Condition fragile.
