Language(s): Persian and ArabicComplete copy of the first daftar or book of the Akbar'nāmah by ʿAllāmī Shaykh Abū al-Faz̤l Nāgawrī, an official regnal chronicle commissioned by the Timurid (Mughal) ruler, Emperor Akbar I (d. 1014/1605).
This is an important copy used in preparation of the Asiatic Society’s Bibliotheca Indica Persian edition of the work by its editors, especially Mawlavī ʿAbd al-Raḥīm and a certain Benjamin ṣāḥib.
Dated colophon (f. 285v): completed by 1220/1805.
Neat miniscule nastaʿlīq tending to shikastah āmīz by a modern hand, possibly copied in the region of Hānsī.
Text transcribed obliquely on a small number of folios (ff. 194, 278-9, 281, 285r).
Modern editorial markings in pencil and ink in margins throughout.
Binding of combed marble paper over pasteboard, damaged; labels.
