Language(s): Persian and ArabicDaftar or books three and four of the Akbar'nāmah by ʿAllāmī Shaykh Abū al-Faz̤l Nāgawrī, an official regnal chronicle commissioned by the Timurid (Mughal) ruler, Emperor Akbar I (d. 1014/1605).
The present copy combines two fascicules or volumes from a much larger set that probably comprised originally the whole work. This is supported by one of the two groups of foliation in Persian, ranging 431-641.
Dated colophon (f. 208v): completed in Day Māh, in RY 37 of Emperor ʿĀlamgīr I, or 13 Jumādá al-Avval 1107/20 December 1695.
Two sets of foliation (serial and individual volumes) in Persian.
Crude illuminated headpieces or sarlawḥ at the beginning of every section (ff. 1v, 130v); thinly gilt illuminated rulings throughout.
Scribal nastaʿlīq occasionally lapsing into shikastah āmīz.
Original covers lost.
Binding of painted and tooled reddish brown, damaged; labels.
Folios unbound; cropped, wormholes, later repairs.
