Language(s): PersianTitle: Riyāz̤ al-qavāfīTitle: رياض القوافىLiterary treatise on the principles and criticism of poetry and refined prose based on ancient and modern authorities, by Mīrzā Muḥammad takhalluṣ Kāmil ibn ʿInāyat Aḥmad Khān Dihlavī (fl. 1204/1789-90), commission after an audience with the Timurid (Mughal) Emperor Shāh ʿĀlam.
The work consists of a muqaddimah, five sections termed rawz̤ah, and a khātimah.
According to a note below the colophon, this manuscript was checked against the author’s autograph copy.
Dated colophon (f. 134v): completed by Chanchal Rāy of the Kāyath qawm at the request of Mīrzā ṣāḥib Z̲ū al-Fiqār Khān-jīv, Friday morning, 1219 faṣlī, 12[10] hijrī/1795.
Occasionally dense annotations in margins.
Rough nastaʿlīq, shikastah and taʿlīq by the same hand.
Lacking original covers.
