The gift of Charles Roddam Esq. 16th February 1788 to W. Jones. Many corrections of this valuable work and many additions to it may be found in the Sirāju'lloghah by Sirājud'dīn Arzū and in the Majmaû'lloghah."
The subsections of the text are separated by blank sides. Jones has indicated the contents throughout with notes indicating the subject of each section. The dictionary proper begins on f68b and the appendix which includes a lot of extra material (e.g. "exotic words" from languages like Hebrew, or "Zend words") begins on f504r. The subchapters of the appendix are also clearly marked by Jones numerically and on f503v he provides a contents of the appendix.

Additions:There are frequent annotations throughout the manuscript in Jones's hand. These include writing out the poetic metre, writing out transliterations and corrections to the contents of the manuscript and marking chapter and word separations where this is unclear.

Standard India Office half leather binding with wine coloured marbled endpapers.

RSPA 1-118 were presented to the Royal Society in January 1792 by Sir William and Lady Jones. This work was presented by Lady Jones.
The Royal Society's collection of 280 Persian and Arabic, and 86 Sanskrit manuscripts were transferred to the India Office Library in 1876.
