Or 17106 (1): [1] columns A – mid C: excerpts from the work ‘Aṭeret zeḳenim / עתרת זקנים, by Rabbi Chaim Hirschensohn, written on the work Sukat shalom / סוכת שלום, by Rabbi Elijah Guttmacher: analysis of Zohar III:216b on Genesis 47:23, on the cosmic – historical ramifications of Joseph’s provision of the Egyptians with seed during the famine, ensuring proper functioning of the Divine Presence even during periods of Israel’s exile; [2] mid column C – mid column E: excerpt from the work Ayelet ha-shaḥar / אילת השחר [bottom p. 14 = f. 7v], by Rabbi Benjamin David son of Isaac Rabinowitz, sermon for Hanukah, on Genesis 43:3, Joseph’s subterfuge with his brothers, and the interconnectivity of all Israel; [3] mid column E: Rabbi Elijah Gaon of Vilna, on Song of Songs, word study on the difference between similar terms, Ḳ-P-Ts / קפץ = “to jump” and D-L-G / דלג “to leap”; [4] mid column E – top column F: ibid., on Habakkuk, on 1:2 and following verses, word study on the difference between similar terms, Sh-Ṿ-‘Ayin / שוע = “to request in advance of problem” and Z-‘Ayin-Ḳ / זעק, “outcry at the time of the affliction”; [5] top half column F: ibid., on the implication of the Hebrew term at the beginning of Habakkuk’s prayer (Habakkuk chapter 3), ‘A prayer unto Habakkuk on “shigyonot” / שגינות’, and the nature and motive of that prayer; [6] top of bottom half of column F: ibid., homiletical interpretation on why the Hebrew bor / בור or בר = pit is sometimes spelled with a medial letter ṿaṿ / ו and sometimes without; [7] middle of bottom half of column F: ibid., how many wings to angels have, six or four? and [8] bottom of column F: ibid., in Esther 1:16, the affront to the ministers is prioritized over the affront to the king, so that the king would be a disinterested party and be able to try the case.
Or 17106 (2): Dates (folio 16r): from Month of Adar I, 5624 [Anno Mundi = 1864 CE]; and from Month of Shevat, 5625 [Anno Mundi = 1865 CE]. Folios 1 – 9, collection of homiletical items on Pericope Peḳude / פקודי (Exodus 38:21 – 40:38); folios 10 – 12, homiletical items on Esther; folios 13 – 17, homiletical items on Pericope Be-Ha‘alotekha / בהעלתך (Numbers 8:1 – 12:16), including illustration and description of the menorah (mentioned Numbers 8:1-4), presented with the booklet held upside down, from folio 17r – 16r.
Or 17106 (3): Exegesis of verses from Song of Songs, from various works including: Ḳol Ya‘aḳov / קול יעקב; Binah la-‘itim / בינה לעתים; Davar be-‘ito / דבר בעתו; and Shir ḥadash / שיר חדש (= ‘New Song’). Note 1: the items from Binah la-‘itim / בינה לעתים are on folio 1, verso, holding the page upside down. Note 2: it is not clear that the two folios were originally a single unit. In favour of this view is the fact that folio 2 contains exegesis from Shir ḥadash / שיר חדש, on the second half of Song of Songs, and one side of folio 1 contains exegesis from the same work, but on the first half of Song of Songs. Thus, that side of folio 1 may be the verso, with the selections from Shir ḥadash / שיר חדש continuing onto folio 2. Also, the ink colour and paper type of both folios are similar. However, the sizes of the two sheets are different; and other items from Shir ḥadash / שיר חדש occur here and there on the other side of folio 1, too.
Or 17106 (4): Exegesis of Ruth, two items, from She’erit Ya‘aḳov / שארית יעקב.
Or 17106 (5): Items numbered 1 – 3. On the basis of a concept stated earlier (not on this sheet), the following verses are explained: [Item 1] Isaiah 61:10; and Psalms 71:19, 73:1, [Item 2] 48:3, [Item 3] 118:22, and 119:39.
Or 17106 (6): 28 numbered extracts from the periodical Kokheve Yitsḥaḳ / כוכבי יצחק, years 5611 – 5629 Anno Mundi = 1850/1 - 1868/9 CE, on select verses from the Hebrew Bible, from the books of Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, II Kings, Isaiah, Jerimiah, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, and Proverbs.
