- Title:
- Discourses of Gregory Nazanzianus
- Scope & Content:
- This manuscript contains the first 30 discourses of Gregory Nazanzianus, translated into Syriac by Bishop Jacob of Edessa (Urfa, Türkiye). The text was copied in estrangela script in black ink, which has now faded to brown, on vellum. Occasional catchwords are also found in red throughout the text, and there are numerous indications of content contained within the margins. A note on the last page states that the book was finished in 263 AH (897 CE). It was bought in 1838 from the Monastery of Suriani on the Natron Lakes in Western Egypt, by Robert Curzon.
