Custodial history: This manuscript 'Gandapuranam' is under the custody of Ganapathipillai Janakamal of Batticaloa Thetathivi. He got this manuscript through his mother. He mentioned that the said manuscript has been preserved in his house for the last 50 years. His mother's lineage is seen to be involved in arts, medicine etc. He said that he realized the value of heritage and the need to protect it only after he started studying for a special degree in history at the university. He also said that he is currently searching for traces of his relatives.
