Custodial history: This Kacikandam manuscript is under the custody of Tharasan Kalayapillai from Thimilai island, Batticolao. He has been preserving them for 30 years which he gained through his paternal line. He belongs to the clan of Vellar of Thimilai. He mentioned that now this clan is losing its hold. Nakesvari, his father's sister had been interested in medicine and functioned as a traditional doctor along with her husband. He noted that eventhough he has been preserving the manusccripts and medical tools since childhood, he lost a lot them due to the local war. He also mentioned now he is interested in medicine, magic through those manuscripts.
