- Title:
- Juz’ 5 of the Qur’ān
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains the Fifth Juz’ of the Qur’ān (Sūrat al-Nisā’; 4) in qazabi (rainbow) style. The text has been copied in the ṣinī style of calligraphy. The opening of the text (ff 1v-2r) and the closing (ff 55v-56r) are heavily illuminated in gold, red, blue, yellow, and green, featuring banners, crescents and circles. The gold appears to have been applied first, followed by swirled coloured pigment. The opening (ff 1v-2r) also contains four medallions bearing names of God and the word 'al-Qur’ān', as well as two half-circles bearing the words 'al-Juz’' and 'al-khāmis'.
Although the manuscript does not contain a colophon, it is presumed to have been copied in the late 17th century CE.
