- Title:
- Psalterium
- Scope & Content:
- This volume contains a bilingual Syriac-Arabic collection of 150 psalms. The text is arranged as an interlinear translation, with the Arabic text atop the Syriac lines until f 18v, when it goes below.
The Syriac appears to have been copied first, followed by the Arabic, which occasionally exhibits confusion in the proper dotting of alif maqṣūrah or tā’ marbūṭah. There is also occasional marginalia in Arabic, some of it crossed out.
The main text is lacking a proper colophon with date, although the work appears to have been copied in the 13th century CE, with further Arabic text added after the end of the Syriac text.
The first board has a vellum sheet with extraneous Syriac text on it, which there is a paper sheet with Arabic text unrelated to the main volume pasted to the back board.
