- Scope & Content:
- The Arabic text of the 12th Surah of the Qur'an, containing a history of the Patriarch Joseph, written in red, with an anonymous Hindustani preface, paraphrase and notes.
The preface begins:
سبب اوترنے سورہ یوسف کا بیان ھی کہ فریش کے رھنےوالے ھر برس شام کے ملک مین واسطے سوداگری کے جایا کرتے تھے اور شام یہودیون کا وطن تھا
In the preface the author gives the traditional account of the revelation of this Surah as related by al-Baizawi, viz. that it was sent by God to Muhammad at Mecca in order that he might convince the Quraishis of the truth of his prophetic mission.
