EAP127/1/2

This sub-fonds consists of 411 books digitised as part of the EAP127 project. The original material is considered by the School of Cultural Texts and Records to form an autonomous collection, as they were collected as part of organised trips under the aegis of the EAP127 project. The material was collected by members of the School staff - Sahana Ghosh, Meghdut Rudra and Dipanwita Sarkar; some items were also lent for digitisation by the Bhowani Sen Library and Research Centre. These originals were later deposited with the School of Cultural Texts and Records.

Many of the books are undated although the majority date from the 20th century.

The collection covers a range of subjects typical to 'Popular Market' Bengali books including: religious verses and songs, and devotional texts; health and lifestyle guides; popular literature, including horror stories, detective novels and illustrated novels; erotica and pornography; language guides and primers; folklore, customs and moral tales; educational material covering a range of subjects; and poetry.
