Papers of George Appleyard
Althorp Papers. Vols. mcdxli-mcdlxxxii. Correspondence and papers of George Appleyard (d. 1855); 1821-1855, n.d. Partly copies, partly drafts, partly printed. He served as secretary and librarian to successive Earls Spencer. The collection comprises letters sent by the Earls Spencer to Appleyard, some letters sent to the Earls which were passed on to Appleyard to deal with, and some letters written by Appleyard, as well as a large number of letters sent to him from other individuals. There is a brief reference to Appleyard in Modern English Biography by Frederic Boase, Truro, 1892.
