MS Mus. 1813/2

Business papers and correspondence of personnel or departments of Boosey & Hawkes, Ltd., predominantly those operating at the firm's headquarters at 295, Regent Street, London, and created mainly in the mid- to late twentieth century.

The bulk of the business archive is formed by four major series of files, of which currently only the first (the Directors' files) is fully catalogued, forming series MS Mus. 1813/2/1/1. The other three await cataloguing.

The business archive also includes some material that did not fall under any of these four major series at acquisition but arrived in their own smaller, distinct series. One, originally labelled 'Miscellaneous', consists of various files concerning Igor Stravinsky's works and estate; this has now been incorporated into the Directors' series ('Igor Stravinsky: Administrative files', MS Mus. 1813/2/1/286-301). A second, 'CON' (for 'Covent Garden'), consists of files relating to Boosey & Hawkes' management of the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London between 1945 and 1956. The third, 'PER' (for 'Performance') contains details of performances of works published by Boosey & Hawkes, along with some correspondence files of Alfred Kalmus.
