This collection contains Portuguese manuscript documents from the Church of São Sebastião, Araruama, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The volumes were produced during the colonial, Imperial, and Republican periods and consist of baptismal records (1710-1887) and burial records (1871-1887) of free, freed (forro/liberto), and enslaved people.
Custodial history: The volumes were produced by the Church of São Sebastião, Araruama-RJ. In accordance with local custom and Canonical Law, all documentation of a permanent nature produced by the Parish is transferred to the Archive of the Archdiocese of Niterói after 70 years.
