Executors' Papers: Monteage
Althorp Papers. Vols. cxcix-ccxi. Papers of Stephen Monteage (1681-1754) and his family; 1640-1795, n.d. Partly French and Latin. Monteage, secretary and accountant to the York Buildings Water Company, was the first cousin of Stephen Poyntz (see Sir John Maclean, An Historical and Genealogical Memoir of the Family of Poyntz [Exeter, 1886], pp. 202 and 226) and acted as his deputy in the office of Inspector of Prosecutions in the Customs House; he also compiled Poyntz's accounts as Comptroller of the Household to William, Duke of Cumberland. The papers appear to have come into the possession of Dr Charles Poyntz as administrator of the estate of Stephen Monteage the younger, son of the above.
