L/AG/8/5/1-2 was Abstracts of Miscellaneous Payments 1943-1955, the two volumes within this sub-series can now be found at L/AG/4/1/81-82 and L/AG/8/5/3 was Railway and Remittances and this volume can now be found at L/AG/4/2/1.
- Administrative Context:
- Burma formed part of British India up to 1 April 1937 when it became a separate territory with a considerable measure of self-government. From that date separate accounts were maintained in the Accountant General's Department in respect of the Government of Burma, for whom the department acted as financial agent, mainly for the issue of military furlough pay and pensions. When Burma became an independent state on 6 January 1948, the Accountant General's Department within the Commonwealth Relations Office Division 'B' continued to act gradually but its agency functions were limited to the issue of civil and military pensions to pensioners of the Burma Government resident outside Burma, India and Pakistan. The method of keeping the accounts was almost identical to that used for the accounts of the Government of India.
