R.M.24.i.16-18. ROYAL MUSIC COLLECTION. Weideman (Charles Frederick) Entradas and Minuets for the Balls at Court; late 18th century. A collection in 3 vols. (the first two bound uniformly) of sets of 6 or 7 short instrumental pieces, mainly minuets, written or collected especially for Royal Birthdays, etc., from 1761 to 1787. All in short score, with a figured bass, but intended for instruments (woodwind, horns, etc.). ff.1-2 in vol.III are in a different hand, and the last set in the book is in full score for flutes, horns and strings, and also in a different hand. The collection is apparently the work of C. Weideman, who composed the bulk of it, but it also contains pieces by other composers. [The anonymous pieces can be safely ascribed to Weideman.]
