Althorp Papers. Vols. xxvii, xxviii. Estate papers relating to Bedfordshire; 1445-1634, n.d. A number of these relate to the Burgoyne family. Thomas Burgoyne of Sutton was the first husband of Anne, wife of Sir Robert Catlin, whose daughter Mary married Sir John Spencer (d.1599). The Burgoyne lands eventually came to the Spencers because John Burgoyne, son of Thomas, had no heirs; see Finch, op. cit., p. 54 note.
