Althorp Papers. Vols. mmdlxviii-mmdlxxxvii.Correspondence and papers of Frederick Beauchamp Paget Seymour, (b.1821, d.1895), younger son of Sir Horace Seymour. Beauchamp Seymour joined the navy in 1840 and rose to the rank of admiral. He was twice a Lord of the Admiralty, (1872-1874, 1883-1885), and served as Commander in Chief in the Mediterranean between 1880 and 1883. In recognition for his command of the bombardment of Alexandria and subsequent actions in Egypt, Beauchamp Seymour was created Baron Alcester of Alcester in 1882; 1827-1894, n.d.
