Two Letters from Anne Isabella Milbanke to Elizabeth Wilkin-son, written during her engagement to Lord Byron, and expressing her confidence of future happiness; 3 Oct. (ff. 1-2b), 22 Dec. (ff. 3-4b) 1814. At the head of each letter is the note '14th letter copied' and '15th letter copied' respectively. Perhaps this is the result of Lady Byron's known assiduity in copying after the separation all documents concerning her relations with Lord Byron. Printed, not wholly accurately, in Ashley Library Catalogue, xi, pp. 13-14. Accompanying the letters are a lithographic portrait of Lady Byron by Edmund J. Sullivan, apparently torn from a book (f. ii), and a copy of that part of T. J. Wise, A Bibliography of Byron, 1932-1933, vol. ii, pp. 64-66 which contains the description of the letters (ff. iii-v). B2608 is a letter from John Drinkwater to T. J. Wise, 9 Jan. 1931, discussing the price which Wise would pay him for the two letters (Vol. B V, ff. 10, 10b).
Quarto; ff. v+4.
