Stern drew heavily on personal experience for his short stories and many blur the distinction between fiction, memoir, and journalism. Most of the stories collected here remain undated and unpublished although many are reworked in multiple drafts over several years; elsewhere their content is reworked in the memoirs and published fiction. Drafts placed in chronological order, earliest first. Individual drafts may consist of any combination of top copy, carbon copy, photocopy of typescript or publication, and galley. Ordered alphabetically according to Stern’s arrangement. 1925-10 February 1979, n.d.
