80997-80999. STERN PAPERS. Vols. CLX-CLXII. Reviews of, and articles about, other authors and artists by James Stern. Stern was a frequent reviewer for the New York Times Book Review, whence the majority of these cuttings, and for other American journals and papers well into the 1960s. Surprisingly, Stern failed to pick up similar reviewing work with British journals and papers on his return to the U.K. in 1956. Amongst the reviews are articles about writers and artists whom Stern knew such as W.H. Auden and Walker Evans. Arranged alphabetically; mainly cuttings but with some typescript and autograph drafts, with autograph corrections and annotations; also includes occasional galleys and some related correspondence. 12 August 1929- 1987, n.d.
