WILLIAMS PAPERS. Vols. I, II. Two journals of Captain W. H. Williams, R.A., relating to his service in Uganda as head of British forces at Kampala; 1890-1893. The journals refer to marches, meetings and discussions with native chiefs and missionaries, and the activities of Captain F. D. Lugard, the Imperial British East Africa Company's representative in Uganda. Add. 60345 contains an account of the Battle of Mengo, Jan. 1892, and its aftermath. Another journal for 1877-1884 is preserved in the National Army Museum.
