TRANSCRIPTS of state papers and correspondence chiefly relating to the early years of the reign of Charles I., with some of the vear 1624, and others of a miscellaneous character; copied from originals chiefly in the Public Record Office, and in a few instances in private hands, by John Bruce, F.S.A. Three volumes presented by Samuel Rawson Gardiner, Esq. A large part of vol. II. (ff. 117-263) is occupied by copies of the despatches of [James Hay] Earl of Carlisle and [Henry Rich] Lord Kensington, afterwards Earl of Holland, ambassadors to France to negotiate the marriage of Charles with Henrietta Maria, 1624, 1625. Among the miscellaneous papers are the following. In vol. I.:-
1. "Old recipes at the end of a MS. of an English translation of Macer's Herbal in the possession of Dr. Diamond." 15th cent. ff. 7-11.
2. "Ornamentes of the peryche churche off Wynge [Wing, co. Rutl., or co. Bucks.]"; 1527. ff. 12-15.
3. "Contemporary account of the Execution of Mary Queen of Scots. From a MS. in the possession of the Rev. Lambert B. Larking." ff. 16-20.
4. "The manner of the execution of the sentence of death vppon the late famous Robert [Devereux] Eearlle of Essex; 1601." From a MS. belonging to Rev. L. B. Larking. ff. 21-25.
