EVELYN PAPERS. Vol. CCCCXXII, CCCCXXIII. The manors of Paddington (also called Paddington Bray or Paddington Elrington) and Paddington Pembroke; 1488-1803. For the history of the former manor, see VCH, Surrey, III, p. 133: it was owned by the Bray family until 1556, when it was alienated to Owen Elrington, who in turn alienated it in two moieties, both of which were acquired by the Evelyns, one via Richard Browne, Richard Hill and Oliph Leigh (as with Abinger); the other via Thomas and John Morgan and the widow of Christopher Parkin, in 1624. For the latter manor, see VCH, Surrey, III, pp. 132-133: from the 15th century it was in the ownership of the Nevill family, Lords Abergavenny, until it was conveyed in 1629 to Richard Evelyn.
