The letters of the Foreign Office period (1801-1804) include an interesting series (partly in cypher or sympathetic ink) from Francis Drake at Munich (cf. 38569). Of the letters of 1809-1812 a considerable number (chiefly "applications for rewards," etc.) are addressed to Spencer Perveval and were doubtless filed (often with notes of the replies) for his successor's use.
