RIPON PAPERS. Vols. XVII-XIX. Three volumes entitled "Applications for Colonial Appointments, 1832," but containing also other correspondence of Lord Ripon (at that time Lord Goderich) as Secretary for War and Colonies. The replies are in many cases drafted by the private secretaries, Blayney Townley Balfour or Charles Eurwicke Douglas (K.B. 12 Oct. 1832), to whom a certain amount of the correspondence is directly addressed. Arranged in order of date within the alphabetic letter, but occasionally in separate sections under the writer's name. Forms part of the First Series of the Ripon Papers, presented, along with material reserved till 1933, by the executors of the last Marquess of Ripon.
