Letters (originally 230 in 226 folders; 7 letters and 2 folders now missing) to Charles Poney of Toulon, worker-poet, or his family; [27] Apr. 1842-15 Aug. 1857, [3 Jan. 1858]-3 Apr. 1876. A certain number have been published in the Correspondance de George Sand, 6 vols., 1882-1884, and many more are quoted by Samuel Rocheblave, "George Sand: Lettres à Poney," in the Revue des Deux Mondes, lii, 1909, pp. 599- 633, 902-934. The collection passed through the hands of Solange Sand, who has added in pencil a variety of comments, often acrid, and Rocheblave has jotted a summary of contents on most of the folders.
