DESMAIZEAUX PAPERS
Correspondence and papers of Pierre Des Maizeaux (d. 1745), author of literary biographies, gentleman of the King's Household, etc.; 1688-1744. French and English. Arranged in alphabetical order. Many of the writers were booksellers or publishers living in Paris, Amsterdam, The Hague, etc. Vol. IX contains the miscellaneous papers of Des Maizeaux, including testimonials of his college career at Berne and Geneva from the year 1688, papers connected with the grant to him of a civil list pension, memoranda of transactions with publishers, many drafts of replies of his correspondents and notes on the letters by Birch. The names of the writers are to be found in the Index of the present Catalogue. Paper. Folio. Nine volumes.
