- Title:
- A collection of 1562 images from the Peter Kennedy Collection of British and Irish folk music.
- Scope & Content:
- These photographs were taken on a variety of cameras between 1890s and 1996 around Britain and Ireland, with a few from Europe and elsewhere in the world. The majority were photographed by Peter Kennedy, unless otherwise noted, with most being taken during his folk music collection trips around Britain and Ireland for the BBC (and privately) in the 1950s and 1960s. Most of the images depict British and Irish folk musicians, performers and dancers who were also recorded with audio/video equipment by Peter Kennedy (see Sound and Vision catalogue). There are instances of duplication of images in a variety of formats, and some are visibly 'working copies' that have been edited, marked, enlarged, or cropped. Detailed descriptions for the photographs are drawn from a combination of notes collated by Reg Hall and information found on the photographs themselves.
