- Description: The registers in this series contain information about births in the Mountain District of Sierra Leone. The birth registers for the Mountain District start on 3 July 1858 and end on 6 May 1890. Each register lists births in date sequence. Information for each entry is recorded under standard headings including ‘number’, ‘when born’, ‘name, if any’, ‘sex’, ‘name and surname of father’, ‘name and maiden surname of mother’, ‘rank or profession of father’, ‘signature, description, and residence of informant’, ‘when registered’, ‘signature of registrar’ and ‘baptismal name, if added after Registration of Birth’. This last column relating to the baptismal name was frequently left blank. Extent of original material: 11 volumes.
