- Arrangement:
- The files are arranged by their original Colonial Secretary's Office (CSO) number. This number consists of a letter prefix, R, followed by a running number, followed by two digits showing the year the file was opening, for example R/5/29 was opened in 1929. A later CSO numbering scheme is also present in the National Archives' lists, consisting of numbers in form 2/4/3. These numbers do not appear on the file covers, so the original arrangement has been adhered to. However the later numbers are recorded in brackets after the original number.
