The King George VI Collectors Society was established in 1960 by Frank R. Saunders. The Society’s aim is to bring together individuals interested in stamps from the reign of King George VI, to collaborate and pass on their knowledge to one another and record all their findings for future posterity. In 2018 the society comprised approximately four hundred members living within twenty seven different countries. To achieve its objectives detailed above, the Society holds regular meetings and events including regular displays of King George VI material, talks and an annual auction. The Society disseminates news of its research and activities within its quarterly journal ‘GEOSIX.’ This journal comprises original research articles, queries & answers, announcements of new discoveries and auction realisations in addition to a wide range of additional information concerning the society and its members.

As such, these journals are invaluable for individuals conducting philatelic or postal history based research. They are also invaluable for social and cultural historians since they provide insights into the history of collecting, collection based research and the social networks for a major international society running since the second half of the twentieth century to the present day.
