This series contains correspondence from Paraíba's Public Education Board of Directors ("Diretoria de Instrução Pública da Paraíba") of the President of the Province of Paraíba between 1864 and 1889, recorded according to the powers of the director and other public education officials. It includes: information on duties of the commissariat and public inspectors; exonerations from officials with posts in the public education office; evaluation of textbook and other teaching materials to be used in the Province; appointments for the posts of public school teachers and substitute teachers, as well as paid leave and commissariat in every district of the Province; student enrollment and condition of the schools, according to the Public Education guidelines ("regimento para Instrução Pública"); duties of P. Costa Junior as Public Education Secretary, as well as duties of other authorities that are part of the National Guard and the Consular Officers; bonuses, replacements, and inspections in different parts of the Province, among others.
