This series of five manuscript volumes consists of volumes 2-6 of John More's Commons Journal. The original foliation of these manuscripts is sequential throughout the volumes, starting at folio 266 in Harley MS 476, and ending with folio 1124 in Harley MS 480.
The location of volume 1 is unknown.
Harley MS 541, ff. 62-118, also contains a section of John More's Commons Journal, in a different format to these volumes.
Harley MS 165, f 31 contains Sir Simonds D'Ewes index of John More's Commons Journal.

This manuscript was formerly owned by Sir Simonds D’Ewes.
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
