- Documents (1859-1938)
- Scope & Content:

This consists of a variety of paper materials, notable among which are pieces of correspondence, notes, notices and other miscellaneous documents. In particular, the correspendences are generally between and among representatives of the colonial government and of the landed gentry in Bengal on a plethora of topics, concerning history political and social sciences among others.
Extent and format of original material: 205 files.
Physical characteristics: The papers were cheap and transient in nature. In most cases the paper used to print these books was of very poor quality, as a result of which the pages are now yellowed and brittle. Almost all the items are stitched using metal pins which are now rusted and falling apart. The places where these pins are attached to the paper are decayed and covered with rust. While digitising, great care was taken so that we could take photographs of the pages without causing any significant damage to the primary material.
