One of the most popular readings, a must in every literate family was an annual calendar, i.e. an almanac of literary, scientific, instructive and entertaining texts which were read by the whole family throughout a year. In addition to low quality paper, calendars were not preserved after the end of each year and that is why they are extremely rare. Digitisation of some calendars from the 19th century is a real challenge as the paper falls apart and they are extremely hard to leaf through. That is also the reason why the owners of the calendar do not allow their use, not even under restricted conditions. Digitisation also includes calendars of the first half of the 20th century as in that way they make a unit.
All materials in this section were acquired by Aleksandar Lazić (1846-–1916) or his grandson Luka Lazić (1876–1946), the owner of the Library from 1910. For some copies there is information about the previous ownership, although for the majority of materials that information is not available. Most of them were bought directly from publishers, authors and authorised bookdealers right after the publication while the smaller number was acquired in antique shops before 1946. Ownership after the death of Luka Lazić: his son Milorad Lazić (1946–1977), Milorad’s wife Danica Lazić (1977–1993), Milorad and Danica Lazić’s grandson, Viktor Lazić (1993 to present).
