'The Fall of the Leafe' (J433), for string orchestra, and 'A Dance on the Hill' (J409), for mezzo-soprano and orchestra; 2004, 2002.
- 'The Fall of the Leafe' was commissioned by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and first performed on 26 November 2004 at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Glasgow.
- 'A Dance on the Hill' was commissioned by the BBC and first performed on 25 April 2005 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, London, as part of the 'Max, A Musician of our Time' Festival. Words by George Mackay Brown, four poems from his collection 'Following a lark'.
Published by Schott (2004) and Chester Music (circa 2002) respectively.
