- Upon arrival at Haileybury each candidate had to bring with him his Certificate of Nomination from the Court of Directors, and testimonials to his conduct and his proficiency in classics and arithmetic from his last school. Before admission candidates were examined in latin, greek and arithmetic (Statute X, secs 5-7). The surviving papers of this process were returned to East India House after 1858. They are arranged in two numerical sequences. There are many gaps.
