- User Conditions:
- Administrative Context:
- Although the two sections of the Establishment Branch became the separate Establishment and Accounts Branches in April 1923, they continued to record files in a single common sequence until the end of 1923. All 1922 and pre-April 1923 files are marked 'Establishment', unless the subject matter was Accounts and the file cover was altered to 'Accounts' (on the unprinted original papers or in editing the file for printing). Files on Accounts matters which were closed before April 1923 were not normally re-named in this way; different parts of a multi-part file can therefore be found differently named 'Establishment' and 'Accounts'. Files on Establishment matters needed no re-naming, and files opened after April 1923 bore the new designations from the outset.
