- Scope & Content:
- Between 1835 and 1895 the Military Department at East India House and the India Office removed the enclosures from incoming letters and had them bound separately in roughly the same sequences as the annual runs of number assigned to their covering letters in India. Hence the enclosures can only be approached via the letters eg having found a reference to Military letter from Bombay No 1 of 1835 in index Z/L/MIL/3/46, the text of the letter will be found in L/MIL/3/1735 and any enclosures will be in L/MIL/3/1793.
